Terms of Service
Actual · last updated 28 October 2026
These are the rules for using Actual. They're written to be read. Where they
can't be plain, they're short.
Who these are with
Actual is made by Actual Software LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we", "us").
By using Actual on the web, on Android or anywhere else we offer it, you agree to these terms
and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
You need to be at least 13 to use Actual. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian should
agree to these terms with you.
Your account
- An account is optional. Without one, everything stays on your device.
- If you make one, keep your sign-in safe and tell us at
[email protected] if you think
someone else has used it.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete
account, or by following the account deletion page.
Your calendar is yours
Everything you put into Actual (blocks, to-dos, lists, notes, ratings) belongs to you. You give
us only the permission we need to store it, sync it between your devices and send it to the
people you choose to share with. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising. You can
export all of it at any time from Settings → Backups.
The free trial and plans
Every new account gets a free trial of all of Actual: 30 days, or 90 days for founding members.
No card is needed. After the trial, carrying on planning needs a plan: monthly,
yearly or lifetime. If you don't pick one, nothing is deleted: your calendar becomes read-only, you can still look back
through it, and you can export everything at any time. One free trial per person: a trial started
with another account's data or on a device that has already used one may end early.
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the end of each period until
you cancel. You can cancel at any time and keep using Actual until the end of the period
you've paid for. We'll tell you at least 30 days before a price change affects your renewal.
- Lifetime is a single payment for Actual for as long as we offer it,
on every device you sign in to. If we ever stop offering Actual, we'll give at least 90 days'
notice and make sure you can export everything you've recorded.
- Founding-member offers (such as a longer trial or a lower lifetime price)
apply as described when they're offered, to the account that claims them.
- Purchases on the web are sold and handled by our payment partner, which acts as the seller,
charges any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt. Purchases in the Android app go through
Google Play under Google's terms.
- Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
Using Actual fairly
Please don't misuse Actual: don't try to get into other people's accounts or data, overload or
attack the service, get around the trial, payment or usage limits, reverse engineer it to copy it, resell it, or
use it to send anyone anything unlawful, harassing or unwanted. We may suspend an account that
does, after telling you why where we reasonably can.
The AI feature
"Sort rambles with AI" uses an AI model to split what you said into separate items. It can get
things wrong, so you always see and approve the result before anything is added. It's optional,
and it may have daily limits.
Keeping it running
We work hard to keep Actual available and your data safe, but no service is perfect. Actual is
provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the
law allows. Keep a backup of anything you can't afford to lose. We may change, add or remove
features, and we'll give notice before removing something you've paid for.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or
consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of
Actual. Our total liability for any claim about Actual is limited to the greater of the amount
you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places don't allow these limits,
so they may not all apply to you; nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law
that can't be waived.
Ending things
You can stop using Actual and delete your account at any time. We may close an account that
breaks these terms. If we do, or if you delete your account, cloud copies are removed as the
Privacy Policy describes, and anything on your own device stays there.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its
conflict-of-law rules. Before anything formal, please write to us; most things are solved by an
email. Any dispute that can't be settled that way will be heard in the state or federal courts
located in Maricopa County, Arizona, or in small claims court where you live if it qualifies.
If you live in the EU, UK or another place whose consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim
at home, you keep that right.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell you in
the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Actual after that means you
accept the new terms.
